Plant Biologist

King’s Lynn

Competitive Salary

Our client is an independent agribusiness specialising in the development of liquid fertiliser and crop nutrition products. Rather than using harsh chemicals they seek to develop products that work in harmony with nature, are sustainable and can help growers to reduce their carbon footprint.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Research Biologist with a background in plant biology to join their small research team based in King’s Lynn.

Role

Highly motivated research biologist able to work on their own initiative researching and developing new products and commercial applications for plant nutrient, biostimulant and biopesticide products for use in commercial agriculture and horticulture in all the major food producing countries of the world.

This role will suit a creative thinker with an enthusiasm for developing innovative solutions to the daunting challenges facing sustainable and profitable agricultural production. You will be collaborating with the commercial team to identify market gaps and opportunities for new product offerings and consulting with leading researchers in the field to prospect for potential collaborative projects.

You will be involved in conducting in-house research and analysing results. Design and conduct in-house laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments aimed at developing new products or improving the efficacy of existing ones and conducting field work to validate research findings and commission trials with academic and independent specialist researchers.

As part of a larger team you will share your findings and relevant information with suppliers, colleagues, distributors and growers at conferences and customer meetings and through publications.

Candidate

Educated to degree level or higher postgraduate qualification in a subject related to life sciences research, such as biochemistry, botany, crop or plant science, or microbiology, with a focus on plant biology.

Previous practical laboratory experience and knowledge of the range of techniques used in plant phenotyping and field trials would be an advantage.

Able to independently design and conduct experiments in lab, glasshouse and field trials.

Industry research or academic experience considered.

Full driving licence required - includes independent travel to field sites, conferences etc.

Excellent communication skills, able to write papers, reports and present work.
