An exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join a leading technology consultancy in the Accounting and Finance department, based near Liverpool Street Station. The role requires a diligent individual with strong knowledge in payroll processing and understanding of UK taxation laws.

Description

The day to day responsibilities of this Payroll Specialist role will include:

UK Payroll:

  • Collate and consolidate payroll data from various sources for monthly processing and accurately process this data into the in-house payroll system. Note, this is an integrated HR and Payroll system with many data inputs administered by the HR team.
  • Administer all payroll related information in the in-house system including but not limited to all starter and leaver documents as required, to ensure for example all P45/ New Starter declaration data is correctly reflected in the payroll system.
  • Confirmation of the system calculations for in period compensation changes, SSP, SMP and SPP - checking payroll run outputs with the understanding to identify any issues with the data
  • Processing of payroll for each company to generate all related reports - Gross to Net reports, changes reports and one of payments and deductions reports etc - to then perform checks to ensure accuracy of these, sharing all necessary starter, finisher and changes reports with HR for their confirmation of completeness and accuracy.
  • Finalising payroll runs and submission of all HMRC reporting including all RTI, year end reporting including production of P60, P11d, P11Db and PAYE Settlement Agreement calculations and submission.
  • Reconciliation of P32 figures between the payroll system, accounting system and HMRC portal so ensure accuracy of liabilities reported to HMRC and recognised in financial statements.
  • Generating the bank payment file for approval and upload by the Group Financial Controller for net pay.
  • Timely auto enrolment assessment for all employees and submission of the pension upload to the pension provider portal.
  • Management of pension opt outs or contributions ceasing at employee request

International Payroll (currently under set up stage):

  • Submission of all payroll data to the payroll service provider by the required deadlines, supported by the HR Function.
  • Review of all payroll reports generated by the payroll service provider to ensure accuracy of data re starters, leavers compensation changes etc.
  • Submission of agreed reports to Group Financial Controller to confirm payment values etc
  • Day to day liaison with the payroll provider on any queries.
  • Management of payments onto third parties such as pension schemes, government bodies or healthcare schemes


General:

  • Maintain a robust payroll function with effective controls in place to minimise risk of miscalculation
  • Ensure all payroll is processed according to set company timeframes and tax authority deadlines
  • Provide helpdesk support and manage all incoming payroll queries via the payroll inbox
  • Actively manage internal stakeholder expectations and build strong relationships with them
  • Management of the payroll checklist and ensuring all payroll information is sought from all areas

Profile

A successful Payroll Specialist should have:

  • A degree in Accountancy, Finance or similar field.
  • A strong understanding of payroll processing and UK taxation laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex information in a clear manner.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Office suite.
