Estelle Manor is a rural retreat nestled in Oxfordshire. A Grade II-listed landmark house set on a 60-acre estate, surrounded by over 3,000 acres of beautiful parkland.

The manor has four restaurants, an extraordinary 3,000 sq metre Roman-inspired spa- Eynsham Baths, 108 bedrooms and a gym with class studios and padel courts. Plus, there’s a kids’ club for the little ones and a workspace.

The Role

The successful candidate will oversee and manage the payroll function of the business, ensuring the timely and accurate payment of 500+ employees based in Estelle Manor

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage the Estelle payroll operations, ensuring each stage of the payroll process is properly actioned, in a timely, efficient and confidential manner ensuring that staff are paid correctly.
  • Correct payments are made, and appropriate information is communicated to our pension providers, HMRC and other statutory and pension scheme bodies via payroll processor.
  • Working closely with a third-party payroll processor to ensure correct data is being processed and signed off on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Working with Head of Departments to ensure all required information are in HRIS/ Payroll system in line with the process and agreed deadlines.
  • To manage the End of Year stator returns required by HMRC, Pension Provider To manage and control the payroll software and database.
  • To accurately prepare and input payroll data into the payroll database, including starters, leavers and amendments.
  • To administer and calculate staff pay, including all statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, ShPP, SAP etc) overtime, Pensions and other adjustments.
  • To be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly payrolls. Complete all statutory and regulatory monthly and annual returns required by HMRC.
  • To liaise closely with colleagues in the finance & people departments, ensuring that the monthly reconciliations for budget purposes are undertaken.
  • To liaise closely with the People Managers within the People & Culture Department and other team players.
  • To keep up to date with relevant regulations/legislation and determine the impact of any changes, taking action to implement changes where necessary. Ensuring all staff are kept informed of changes which may impact on the organisation or individuals.
  • To participate in projects relating to the development of the integrated payroll-HR database, taking a lead on identifying possible improvement to the system and playing a key role in implementing agreed changes.

What we are looking for:

Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Payroll and Pensions e.g. CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP)

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience of Payroll Management in a medium to large organisation
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll systems, taxation and national insurance rules
  • Substantial experience of using complex computerised payroll systems involving all aspects of payroll
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Payroll and Pensions
  • Experience of working with HR and Payroll softwares
