Gleeson Recruitment Group is supporting a national organisation in their search for a Senior Payroll Specialist on a maternity cover FTC basis. The role is based in Nuneaton and offers a 4-day working week, paid pro-rata at a salary of £32,000.

About the Role

You will be welcomed into a collaborative, supportive, and trusting department with a senior leadership team that highly values its employees. The role offers hybrid working with plenty of flexibility, allowing you to manage your own workload. You will be expected to support the small Payroll team in ensuring the seamless collation and processing of all data through to payment.

Role Purpose

To accurately and efficiently process payroll, ensuring compliance with pension, governance, and legislative guidelines. You will be responsible for guiding and managing the team to maintain minimal errors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for over 200 employees, liaising with providers around pension, governance, and compliance, and be the main point of contact for payroll issues.
  • Meet all financial, payroll and pension deadlines as required.
  • Develop current payroll processes and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and statutory requirements relating to payroll and pensions.
  • Work with managers to educate and improve accuracy in relation to payroll tasks.
  • Maintain a high-performing team through effective training, coaching, team building, performance management, and resource planning.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency across the function, as well as taking on project work.
  • Manage the external payroll vendor contracts, including the ongoing management of SLAs and service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in processing hourly and salaried payroll, including maintenance of payroll records both monthly and weekly.
  • Proven track record in a start-to-finish payroll function.
  • Knowledgeable of current pension, governance, and compliance legislation.
  • Experience of using external payroll.

Skills

  • Excellent numerical skills.
  • Advanced competence in MS applications, particularly Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proactive and able to use initiative, working with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop strong, professional relationships with colleagues and customers.
