Payroll Assistant
  • Salary: £15 per hour
  • Location: Thurrock
  • Job Type: Part-time 18 to 20 hours

Our client is looking for a dedicated Payroll Assistant to support their Payroll Manager. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong background in payroll processing. You will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries, managing pension schemes, and maintaining essential records.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Check and correct weekly timesheets and input information into the payroll system.
  • Process and file weekly/monthly payroll, ensuring correct and timely payment.
  • Manage weekly/monthly auto-enrolment and pension schemes effectively.
  • Liaise with HMRC and employees for any payroll-related queries.
  • Update Excel spreadsheets of labour costs on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain holiday and personnel records with high accuracy.
  • Answer incoming calls, take messages, and redirect calls as required.
  • Perform other ad hoc administrative tasks when necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and knowledge of PAYE, NIC, CIS, SSP, SPP.
  • Experience using Sage50 payroll software.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and great attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills to prioritise workflow effectively.
  • Confident, motivated with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Benefits:
  • Part-time hours, 18 hours per week, from Tuesday to Thursday (9am to 3pm).
  • 4 weeks annual leave, increasing by 1 day per full holiday year up to a total of 5 weeks, plus bank holidays.
