Role: Payments Officer

Duration: 6 Months

Location: London

Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office

Purpose of Job

  • To both investigate and repair payments that do not follow the STP workflow on behalf of the EMEA offices.
  • To manage and process in line with currency cut off times all payment queues within Montran JGPS and SWIFT.
  • To be responsible for payment verification within Montran JGPS on behalf of the London & EMEA offices.
  • To obtain customer cross currency exchange rates from Treasury Department in order to facilitate payment processing.

Background

  • The Payments Officer is responsible for managing the various payment queues within JGPS Montran on behalf of both London and EMEA Offices.
  • Responsible for exception-based monitoring, e.g. accurate manual repair of payments outside of STP processing.
  • The incumbent of this role is required to develop and maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders such as PD-IS, CMS, Treasury and EMEA offices in order to maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Responsible for high volume of payment repairs in excess of 500 per day at month end peak processing times.
  • The Payments Officer is responsible for collating and producing monthly payment related MIS.
  • Engage with immediate stakeholders and support system enhancements and related UAT.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Exception based processing all payments requiring manual repairs in order to facilitate the payment process.
  • Ensure that payment processing is in line with industry PSD2 regulations and Dubai VAT requirements.
  • Monitor and clear all Montran JGPS payment queues each day in line with currency cut off times.
  • Actively support the month end processing for both EMEA and London Payment teams.
  • Investigate all STP payment exceptions and take appropriate actions to correct and enable processing.
  • Working collaboratively with CSG to manage the manual payment validation checks and processing.
  • Daily Target 2 and FOX reconciliation
  • Assisting with the work around process relating to Dubai VAT to ensure the bank are meeting the guidelines set by the Central Bank of UAE.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Accuracy - attention to detail when processing large payment volumes within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Flexibility - Flexible and versatile attitude is essential due to the range of tasks and deadlines undertaken.
  • Proactivity - Proactive and self-motivated approach to responsibilities and ability to multitask.
  • Detailed payments knowledge and Industry Standard understanding e.g. PSD2.
  • Excellent understanding of SWIFT payment formatting.
  • Good communication skills.
