Pastoral Support Assistant - Barnsley

Prospero Teaching are looking for committed individuals for a specialist SEMH School based in Barnsley.


CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
Location: Barnsley
Position: Pastoral Support Assistant
Start Date: ASAP
Duration / Likely Duration: Ongoing - temp to perm contract
Full Time: Monday - Friday
Hours: 08:30 3:30
The Minimum Rate of Pay GBP90 per day.


EXPERIENCE
Relevant experience in a school or similar setting.
Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
Experience of effectively and positively managing a class and leading learning with groups of pupils, using appropriate strategies to enable them to settle to learn.
Duties of the role include:
· Supporting inclusion within the school.
· Being first port of call for children who are vulnerable and may display behaviours that challenge.
· Attendance & Pastoral interventions.
· Liaising with the Senior Leadership Team, Parents / Carers and external agencies when required.
· Motivate and empower students to reach their potential
· create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive
· be a good listener
· Be empathetic and supportive
· Be a good problem solver
As a Pastoral Support Assistant you will help support the young people with their social, emotional and behavioural needs.
The students who attend this specialist school have challenging complex emotional and behavioural needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health; and require additional support.
Team Teach training would be beneficial to this role, however this can be provided for free.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional related references
