We are currently working with x2 Secondary Schools in North London (Barnet), who are looking to find their next top-tier graduates to support children with additional needs (SEN). Both schools are renowned in Barnet for having holistic, child-focussed learning approaches, typically perfectly suited to graduates with creative flairs. Both schools are Apple Learning schools and Mental Health accredited.

The last graduates we placed at this school were all from creative backgrounds Art, Drama, Dance etc. Each graduate had previous experience with children in some capacity i.e. Babysitting, Nannying, Summer Camps, Creative Workshops etc.

What will you do day-to-day in this Teaching Assistant role?

  • Main focus: Supporting children with SEN / Additional Needs (Special Educational Needs), needs such as; Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Speech and Language, Behaviour Needs and SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health)
  • Supporting children 1-2-1 in the classroom, but also out of class providing tailored support
  • Be provided Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCP's) from the schools specialist staff, to guide you and support you on how best to support the children
  • Providing support in lesson to class teacher (no planning, just supporting)
  • Providing academic and emotional support - making sure children are comfortable and supported

What experience do you need to succeed in these Teaching Assistant roles?

  • A graduate in any subject, ideally a 1stclass or 2:1 - from a reputable university
  • Strong academics through A-Level and GCSEs (or equivalents)
  • Previous experience supporting children (don't worry not years and years)
  • Ideally have experience in Nannying, Babysitting, Youth Clubs, Social Work, Creative Workshops, Summer Camps, SEN (personal experience counts too!)
  • Personality is KEY: Must be great on the phone (to EdEx), able to speak confidently and passionately about your experience to date

  • Earn £95 - £100 per day - take home around £370 - £380 per week after deductions
  • Full time roles - 5 days per week - Monday - Friday
  • 8:30am - 4:00pm - No weekends
  • Long Term roles - start now and work till the end of the academic year as a minimum (with scope to be on a permanent contract from Sept 24)
