An opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join one of the most progressive, dynamic and forward-thinking law firms in Exeter, working within the firm's Family department. This opportunity would offer the chance to be working with the children team, supporting the team on both public and private law proceedings. The work will be extremely interesting and will give someone the opportunity to learn within a supportive and experienced team. The ideal candidate will already have had some experience of working within a law firm, whether that be (ideally) in a Family team, but possibly some other experience and an interest in Family law.

Tasks include:

  • Drafting documents and applications
  • Preparing letters
  • Diary management for the fee earners
  • Instructing and briefing counsel
  • Liaising with clients both over the telephone and via email
  • Legal aid administration

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience within a law firm
  • Any family-based experience will be of great benefit
  • Knowledge of legal aid processes will be an advantage
  • Self-motivated and organised
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time-management skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PDFs)
