Job title: Underwriter - P&C

Salary: £45,000

Location: West Yorkshire

Purpose of role:

On behalf of our client, Lawes consulting have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join their New Business team. This role will achieve income and profit objectives through the delivery of an efficient case underwriting service to brokers, supporting the technical management of the regional account in conjunction with the regional strategy, financial plan and personal objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive New Business growth by adhering to risk selection, appetite, and authority guidelines.
  • Follow the 4 Call Process rigorously to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Attain Bottom Line, Top Line, and Expense targets through effective management and adherence to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Establish and foster robust personal relationships with key directors and staff at pivotal brokerages to bolster local presence.
  • Demonstrate adept negotiation skills to facilitate conversions and cultivate relationships with key brokers.
  • Continuously update and expand personal knowledge of pertinent technical issues.
  • Contribute to the Company's technical expertise by providing feedback on technical and commercial market insights to the Regional Director and wider team.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, particularly claims and survey teams, as needed. 

Experience:

  • Desirable qualifications include market, industry, and company knowledge.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal communication skills along with the ability to craft tailored written communications.
  • Possess proficient system and administration abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance.
  • Exhibit the capability to challenge and identify areas for improvement.
  • Present oneself as professional and personable, serving as a credible representative of the company.
  • Display resilience, positivity, and proactivity with a can-do attitude.
