Experienced Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist required to work on a 24 bedded medical/rehabilitation ward. To provide assessment, treatment planning/intervention and complex discharge planning.

Experience

A variety of experience in general hospital/other health/Social care settings

Experience in multidisciplinary team working

Qualifications/Training

BSc./BScHon/MSc OT

Registration with HCPC

Knowledge

Demonstrate a clear knowledge of the scope, defining features and main areas of occupational therapy.

A working knowledge of core theories, principles and concepts within OT as applied in a range of clinical area.

Knowledge of the Practice behaviours required for standards within of O.T. code of conduct

Ability to utilise core skills and demonstrate clinical reasoning

Knowledge and application of standardised assessments

Understanding of OT outcome measures relevant to clinical area

Skills

Effective communication skills. (Verbal, Non-Verbal & Written)

Takes responsibility for own case-load (including assessment and treatment planning). Show a clear awareness of own and others roles and responsibilities.

Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance, recognising own abilities and when to seek guidance.

Demonstrated the ability to establish professional role and effective working relationships within multi disciplinary, multi agency settingsand with all service users.

Demonstrates the ability to contribute to professional development of self and others.

Effective self management skills.

Ability to use a range of eHealth resources to support and enhance work at this level.

Aptitude

Demonstrates some originality and creativity in dealing with professional level issues

Motivated and confident in OT role

Acts in ways that acknowledge and recognise peoples expressed beliefs, preferences and choices.

Takes account of own behaviour and its effect on others.
