Head of Room

  • Annual Salary: £26,000 - £27,550

Reed are delighted to be working with our client to recruit for a Lead Early Childhood Developer to join their dedicated team, providing high-quality care and education in a fun and stimulating environment. This role is integral to nurturing excellent relationships with parents and building the foundations for learning for every child, in line with our key values inspired by the Te Wariki curriculum of New Zealand.

Day to day of the role:
  • Oversee the leadership and management of your room, ensuring safety, safeguarding, and learning and development for all children.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure safety, learning and development, and strong parent partnerships.
  • Plan and lead stimulating and educational activities that engage children through curriculum clubs and trigger boards.
  • Act as a key person for one or more children, monitoring their progress, maintaining records, and providing developmentally challenging next steps.
  • Ensure the safety of the environment and all children, reporting any concerns immediately to the nursery management team.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, including managing mealtimes, nappy changes, and toilet training.
  • Record any accidents or incidents accurately and adhere to the nursery’s collection policy.
  • Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Complete mandatory training within given timescales and attend regular staff meetings and parents’ evenings.
  • Uphold the high profile of the nursery and its standards at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant qualification in early childhood education or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role, demonstrating leadership and management skills within an early years setting.
  • Knowledge of the Realising Ambition and Curriculum for Excellence standards.
  • Strong understanding of child development and early years educational practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality childcare and education.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build strong relationships with parents and colleagues.
