Early Childhood Assistant
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Location: Edinburgh (EH4)
  • Salary: £23,000 to £26,550 per annum (dependant on experience) 

Reed Health and Care are working with our client in Scotland who are seeking an Early Childhood Assistant  / Early Years Practitioners who are passionate about providing high-quality care and education for children in a fun and stimulating environment. This role is integral to nurturing excellent relationships with parents and building the foundations for learning for every child, in line with our key values inspired by the Te Wariki curriculum of New Zealand.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure safety, learning, and development, as well as strong parent partnerships.
  • Plan and lead engaging educational activities that adhere to Realising Ambition and Curriculum for Excellence standards.
  • Act as a key person for one or more children, monitoring their progress, maintaining records, and communicating with parents/carers.
  • Maintain a safe environment for all children, adhering to Safeguarding protocols and reporting any concerns to the nursery management team.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, managing mealtimes, nappy changes, and toilet training effectively.
  • Record accidents or incidents accurately and follow the nursery’s collection policy to ensure child safety.
  • Understand and comply with all nursery policies/procedures and risk assessments.
  • Complete mandatory training within specified timescales and participate in staff meetings and parents’ evenings.
  • Maintain the nursery’s high profile and standards at all times, both during and outside working hours.
  • Be approachable, maintaining a positive demeanor.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Understanding of the Te Wariki curriculum and the Curriculum for Excellence standards.
  • Must hold a SVQ Level 3 related to children and/or early years education
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for children.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to carry out duties within reasonable expectations of the role.
