Broster Buchanan are recruiting a Non-financial reporting controller for a global FTSE 100 listed organisation with an unparalleled reputation for developing it's people. 

Purpose of the role

This is a key role with the opportunity to shape long term change in the performance of non-finance reporting, controls and performance.  This role will work with teams providing non-financial reporting to improve processes, quality of collation and reporting.  In addition, the role will support business partnering to the functional leads supporting analysis, challenge and crucial input for risks and opportunity management.

The finance function of the future needs to be efficient, networked and extend beyond the traditional areas of business partnering. With the increasing focus on transparency around ESG and the requirements of stakeholders, from investors to NGOs but also our customers, the understanding of how to bring data together in an assurable manner is key.

Partnering with the subject matter experts to provide value add in the ESG area is an exciting new career path, which ultimately will also support the delivery of integrated reporting.  This role plays a key part in shaping that function of the future for the business and to model good practice for wider functions. 

This is a new role bringing financial controllership experience to functions and areas where the regulatory environment is evolving fast, and where compliance is required both for the regulators and other external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop a strong understanding of  the existing non-financial processes (health and safety, environmental, procurement and people) and system landscape as a building block for embedding a control and business partnering environment.
  • Build successful relationships and work collaboratively with key stakeholders in Finance and the wider business including CR Hub, Legal, People and performance and health and safety.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within functional teams, working with relevant stakeholders to drive and implement positive change to improve finance user experience.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvement initiatives to simplify processes, automate processes, or eliminate “workarounds” to improve collation and reporting processes.  Delivery of accurate timely information for reporting requirements
  • Implement new business partnering for functions, being accurate and resourceful in providing the organisation with data and metrics - identifying trends and problems, communicating information to relevant groups, and recommending actions to improve performance.
  • Supporting the implementation and development of interim reporting for non-financial KPI
  • Support the definition and implementation of new processes for key business strategic initiatives.

Knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Credibility to influence with impact across all areas of the business.
  • Deep understanding of Finance processes and the ability to translate these into new areas
  • Strategic mind-set, with ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of wider business
  • Strong engagement and communication skills, with proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation, particularly with senior management.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule for self and team and work within agreed timescales
  • Constantly looking for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with the ability to inspire, lead, build & deliver through high performing teams
  • Able to draw knowledge from a broad experience of financial roles
  • Process oriented, with good experience of delivering change across processes & systems

Key Requirements:

Accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA) essential
5+ years PQE having worked in a variety of finance roles and in a people management role.
Process oriented with a logical mind-set, using reasoning consistently to come to the correct conclusion
Strong financial and analytical acumen with experience of establishing robust controls environments.
Demonstrate initiative with strong work ethic.
Proven experience working in a large organisation with multi-national exposure.
