The Role: :

To work with the Operations Manager and other key stakeholders to design and deliver plans to achieve all manufacturing and product quality targets respecting all budgetary parameters on your designated shift. The effective leadership of the shift including the delivery of role-model behaviours and robust governance procedures capable of tracking all key performance indicators against a balanced scorecard. The management and mentoring of key leadership personnel to enable all employees to understand the expectations of the Company.

Duties Include :

  • To exercise diligence and independent judgement to promote transparent, values-led and professional management of your shift.
  • To act as a professional and trusted advisor to the General Manager regarding all production and packing / distribution matters relating to your assigned shift.
  • To utilise organisational and local MI to identify and prioritise local production and packing agendas to achieve organisational financial and production goals; Ensure MI is consistent, honest, open, routinely reviewed.
  • Regular constructive engagement with, and co-ordination of, the broader teams (other sites, HSE Depts) to facilitate the local delivery of shift goals.
  • The application of financial rigor to all production activity to ensure value for money for the shift.
  • To act as a role model for safety behaviours on site and be able to deliver quantifiable results in reporting safety issues, health issues and deal with these proactively.
  • Responsible for ensuring shift complies with high hygiene standards and takes active participation in hygiene and food safety audits
  • Responsible for championing a positive food safety & quality culture on the shift you are responsible for.
  • Lead CI projects for the shift.
  • Ensure shift achieves the requires performance in line with safety and quality parameters.
  • To drive the site to produce best possible outcomes for audits and maintain audit standards year on year and deliver outstanding performance on Production & Packing quality and safety expectations.
  • Skills and Experience Required :
  • Of graduate calibre with evidence of critical reasoning ability
  • 5+ years’ experience of leadership within a complex manufacturing operation. Exposure to P&L management.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in FMCG manufacturing. Exposure to major UK retailers and short shelf life products would be an advantage.
  • Evidence of external (non-YSL) influence on strategic thinking
  • An appreciation of different leadership styles to bring about different ways of working.
  • Level 4 Food Hygiene
  • Advanced HACCP
  • Experience of CI / Lean / 6 Sigma or other CI methodologies
  • Evidential competence in performance management, planning & prioritising, change management, problem solving, decision making, communicating with impact, strategic thinking, customer awareness and commercial acumen.
