Job Title: Social Worker - Initial Response Team

Location: Newcastle Council

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker looking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families?

Newcastle Council's Initial Response Team is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Social Worker to join their dynamic and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment and Intervention: Conduct thorough assessments of individuals and families referred to the Initial Response Team, identifying risks and protective factors. Develop and implement timely and effective intervention plans to safeguard children and promote their well-being

Collaborative Working: Work closely with other professionals, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to support vulnerable individuals. Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, reviews, and case conferences

Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Prepare and present reports for court proceedings as required

Support and Guidance: Provide guidance and support to families, promoting their independence and resilience. Advocate for service users to ensure they receive the appropriate resources and support

Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly to crisis situations, assessing risk and taking appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and families

Continuous Professional Development: Stay informed about developments in social work practice, legislation, and research. Participate in regular supervision and training to enhance your skills and knowledge

Qualifications and Experience

A recognised social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England

Proven experience working in a social work role, preferably within a child protection context

Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection and social work practice

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with service users and colleagues

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
