Pure are delighted to be partnering with a well-established Manufacturer who are seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer. 

You would be responsible for providing specialist technical support to the site operations and maintenance functions and ensuring the site complies with all regulatory requirements relating to the safe installation, operations and maintenance of electrical systems.

Key duties will include;
  • Liaise with Manager and Operators to ensure production and maintenance plans are compatible and up to date with plant changes
  • Liaise with teams to ensure that plant is made available on time to meet agreed maintenance and production planning schedules
  • Organize plant shutdowns for preventative maintenance
  • Liaise with other Engineers and Production teams to complete reactive maintenance in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Proactively propose equipment/system upgrades where required; being directly involved with the design, build and implementation of such projects
  • Managing contractors and monitoring progress
  • Keeping plant and test equipment up to good standards and within legislative testing
  • Actively pursue faults through troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • HV competent, perform or arrange sufficient HV cover for site switching and testing
  • Mechanical assistance where required for removal of motors, pumps, gearboxes, etc.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and crossover with electrical – able to work on both
  • Ensuring compliance to all relevant QESH standards e.g., BRC, Halal, Kosher and FAMIQS
  • Use of all available workshop instructions and procedures and updating where required
  • Follow-up of key records such as: PAT, FAT, Transformer Testing, Fire Alarm Testing, Safety Device Testing (inc showers, eye wash stations), Fire Alarm System Maintenance Schedules and Inventory.
  • Monitor stocks of Electrical major equipment spare parts (inc. motors, inverters, contactors, fuses, relays, cabling, terminations, etc.)
  • Perform stock counts when needed to support the Stores Manager
  • Performing preventative measures to stock to keep in the best condition (i.e. motor shaft turns)
  • Call-Out Rota – to be on-call for 1 week in 4 and adhere to all aspects of the call-out agreement, including response times and rest periods
  • Trained in all aspects of electrical distribution systems (including designing, testing, installing and commissioning), correct safety device and installation and testing, machine diagnostics and fault finding, all aspects of motor control including contactors, soft-start relays, inverter drives and STAR/DELTA wiring, motor fault diagnostics, condition monitoring
  • Provide Electrical training on various equipment/devices for shift operatives to a defined standard and over agreed timescales
  • Develop and use SOP's, operating instructions, safe systems of work and toolbox talks to deliver training
  • Contribute actively to plant housekeeping and GMP audit schedule
  • Maintain continuous improvement tools in your area

Training will be given to boost mechanical knowledge and develop further into the Multi-Skilled role.

The ideal applicant will possess the following essential skills and knowledge;
  • BTEC/NVQ-Level 3 or equivalent certificate in Electrical Engineering; able to understand wiring diagrams of all ages and complexity
  • Confined space trained
  • Working at height
  • Familiar with PLC driven systems
  • Inspection, Testing and Certification (or equivalent) course
  • >5 years Electrical experience in Food and Beverage, or Food services industry
  • Proven experience with packing equipment
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
  • Results focused “can do” attitude
  • Self-starter – ability to work off own initiative and alone at times
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Demonstrates commitment and a good understanding of health and safety for self and others

It would also be beneficial if you have the following;
  • Yeast manufacturing and technology knowledge
  • Continuous improvement awareness
  • NEBOSH or IOSH safety certificate
  • HV Qualified & Competent
  • 415VAC 3-Phases Systems
  • Environmental awareness – ISO14001
  • Level 2 Food Safety
  • First Aid certification
  • Hazardous area intrinsically safe working course
  • Random Hardware Failures Assessment (commonly referred to as SIL Verification) on a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) course
  • Cherry picker certification
  • Mechanical Maintenance>2 years proven work experience in a maintenance environment
  • Able to lead root cause analysis investigations
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, and environmental processes
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Proven experience with Maintenance management system (e.g. Maximo)
  • Various Electrical Testing Abilities (PAT, FAT, Megger)
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Teaching/Coaching skills

This is a full time, permanent position. The working hours are Monday-Frday 8am-4:30pm and this is a permanent day shift with occasional overtime. You will be on call for 1 week in 4. This position is paying a salary that is competitive in the current marketplace and additional earnings are possible.
