We currently have a new vacancy for a Mould Shift Manager within the Mould Shop team as detailed below:

  • The role will be reporting to the Mould Team Manager
  • Working pattern is double days, Monday to Friday 07.00 - 15.00 & 15.00 - 23.00, total 40 hours per week
  • Salary up to £45k, DOE (there is no shift allowance for this role and the role holder will be expected to support covering other shift working patterns where appropriate i.e. nights)

Role Description:

To effectively manage shift personnel and achieve planned output in line with key performance indicators for your department. Promote a team based work environment. Maintain accurate and timely administration for all relevant procedures

Main Duties:

Safety, Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Manage health and safety aspects for Mould.
  • Comply with Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental & Health & Safety standards in line with current certification
  • Manage and maintain Risk Assessments within area of responsibility.
  • Carry out accident investigation activities, ensure near miss reporting.
  • Ensure team comply with the Lock out Tag out Procedure (where applicable).
  • Ensure team comply with the Safe System of Work documents.
  • To ensure all contractors are signed in with the correct work permits.
  • Lead 5S processes and procedures with your area of responsibility.
  • To ensure all team members wear appropriate PPE.
  • Manage health and safety actions links tasks for your department.
  • Take appropriate actions in emergency situations.
  • Actively contribute to the reporting of near misses and hazard identification in line with KPI
  • Promoting a safe & healthful work place and encourage team participation in reporting and solving issues.
  • Escalation in line with company high alert process. to protect internal and external customers

Quality

  • Ensure internal and external quality focus within area of responsibility.
  • Lead and participate in 8D's, problem solving and risk management. Including root cause analysis and robust containment.
  • Manage quality improvements through KPI's.
  • Ensure standardised working procedures are in place for all key tasks.
  • Complete and ensure adequate process audits are in place, to maintain sustained process adherence

Timing

  • Manage performance through KPIs and action plans.
  • Maintain well organised, secure consumables inventory and replenishment system.
  • Manage and support resources to ensure all production needs are met for non-standard shifts i.e. ad-hoc shift patterns.
  • Escalation in line with Company high alert process to protect internal and external customers i.e. issues/concerns e.g. Quality/downtime.
  • Be available to support the team in out of hour's emergencies.
  • Ensure shift handovers and shift reports are completed at the start and end of each shift.
  • Ensure cycle times and production targets are met.
  • Analyse data to improve shift performance.

Cost

  • Operate within budget for area of responsibility.
  • Manage headcount and overtime within budget for your team. To achieve targets i.e. cost per unit metric
  • Lead and champion continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance on safety, uptime, quality, processes and cost down opportunities.
  • Participate and champion projects within the companies CIP scheme.
  • Reduce energy consumptions through initiatives and controls (ensuring weekend hours are minimised for energy consumption).
  • Reduce waste within the production areas.
  • Improve and maintain RFT (right first time) KPI.

  • Must be able to work using their own initiative, and be able to liaise with other functions and departments at all levels within the company. Managing People and processes and budgets within area of responsibility.
  • Previous production management experience

Ideally the successful applicant:

  • will have previous injection mould experience
  • previous management experience
  • proven ability to coach and develop teams
  • proven in team building and improving culture and processes
