  • £32,600 per annum + auto-enrolment company pension (4% company contribution)

The Extra Mile Garage has been serving the public in Halton for over 25 years and looking after its own fleet of Minibuses and offering MOTs, servicing, diagnostics and repairs to the general public.

Benefits:

  • Salary of £32,600 per annum
  • 4% employer contribution to pension
  • 38-hour week – 7am to 5:30pm - Over a 4-day shift (alternate Monday and Friday off) allowing for long-weekends and improved family and social life.
  • 28 days paid holiday per year including paid Bank Holidays (rising to a maximum of 33 days during your 5th to 10th year of service) + all those long weekends
  • 10 days paid sickness after 6-month qualifying period in any 12 months.

Please Note: Additional hours for breakdowns or other unplanned work to be discussed and agreed locally and will be paid or as lieu time at flat hourly rate.


The Role:

The successful applicant will be joining a local MOT Testing Centre/Garage testing Class 4, 5 (light) and 7, which is also part of a busy Community Transport Organisation that operates a mixed fleet of Minibuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General mechanical work, diagnostic & repairs on customer vehicles including tyre replacement and repair
  • Class 4, 5 & 7 MOT testing
  • Some general fleet repair work on our 20 mixed Minibus fleet
  • Performing regular Safety Inspections on our fleet of Minibuses


The ideal Candidate:

Current MOT tester certification is essential. You will also need to be fully competent and qualified in the service and repair of vehicles and have a positive, willing attitude to work, be enthusiastic and able to work under your own initiative.

You must have NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent plus 5 years’ post-training garage experience.

Desirable Skills:

Have some knowledge or experience of larger vehicles such as Minibus/Vans (but this is not essential).

The successful candidate will receive a conditional offer of employment on a 3-month trial basis with the potential for a further 3 month trial extension should there be any unresolved issues.
