Year 6 Teaching Assistant - Mornings - (1:1 Support)

  • Salary: £13.43 P/H

Reed/LTA are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with autism. The ideal candidate will have experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and be committed to helping the child engage with their work and achieve their full potential. This part-time role is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on a student’s educational journey.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with autism, assisting with their academic work and social development.
  • Implement strategies to support the pupil’s learning and engagement, in line with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt materials and activities to meet the pupil’s needs.
  • Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster a supportive and understanding relationship with the pupil, promoting self-confidence and independence.
  • Assist with the development of social skills by facilitating positive interactions with peers.
  • Support the pupil during break times and assist with their personal care if required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those on the autism spectrum, is preferred.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by children with autism and the ability to adapt support accordingly.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable.
