We are delighted to be working with our Legal client supporting their recruitment for a Mental Health Solicitor or Consultant to cover Cardiff and Wales.

The firm has offices in Essex and the South West and is expanding. This is a very exciting opportunity to join a specialist Mental Health firm and to grow a new office as well as to progress in your own career.

This role would suit a candidate who wants autonomy and responsibility from their job and is passionate about assisting some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week. Our client recognises how important flexible working is and is open to proposals. In addition, all team members are offered the ability to work remotely or be office based and this role will be no different with the candidate being able to choose what suits them.

Candidates can be considered on an employed or consultancy basis.

If looking for employment the salary on offer is £32,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience. Holidays are 25 days plus Bank Holidays, plus your Birthday off, as well as statutory pension scheme.

If a consultancy basis is more suited to you, then the firm offers a 70/30 split on all cases.

The Role:
- Representing patients detained under the Mental Health Act, to include both civil and forensic sections.
- Working with the Managing Director to build the Welsh office in order to establish a reputation in the area.
- Managing and supervising fee earning and support staff where applicable
- Achieving financial targets

The Person:
- Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister, Mental Health Solicitor experience
- Law Society panel accreditation
- 3 years post qualification experience or relevant legal experience
- Proven experience of providing representation to patients within the Cardiff/Wales area.
- Organisational and management ability
- Excellent face to face communication, advocacy and negotiation skills
- Legal Aid Supervisor status is desirable but at least the willingness to progress.
