We are recruiting for a Mechatronics Engineer for our client who is a leading global provider of tactical and strategic mission-critical communications systems and high-grade information security and network capabilities.

Security clearance is required for this role.

The primary roles and responsibilities for the Mechatronics Engineer are to:

  • Lead and focus on applying engineering principles to the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for the Group product lines.

  • Lead and focus on the design and analysis of mechanical systems integration to manufactured parts, enclosures, and products within the Group Portfolio.

  • Assist the engineers and business development staff with the design and implementation of platform system integration with projects and products.

  • Support company ideas and endorsed proposals through mechanical and manufacturing design solutions (translating ideas to design options and solutions).

  • Carry out critical design calculations for the design and selection of equipment to meet project specifications.

  • Design-in and select appropriate manufacturing solutions, systems, and subsequent materials in accordance with product designs and manufacturing solutions, costs and efficiencies.

  • Have and to continually develop material selection knowledge that provides the relevant and needed tensile strength, environmental and electrical/RF properties in accordance with the product use cases.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with manufacturing and design houses, companies, research centres and academia to remain technologically and commercially relevant with clear lines on investment and outsourcing according to the needs of the business.

  • Continually ensure that manufacturing solutions for company based products are lean, fit for purpose, timely and cost effective.

  • Analyse all products for legislative product conformity (CE/UKCA compliance) and engage with relevant compliance houses for subsequent testing, analysis, rectification.

  • Ensure all designs, processes, manufacturing procedures and solutions are implemented and maintained in accordance with the company's ISO9001:2015 management system.

Required Skills:

  • A professionally accredited relevant engineering qualification with the following timed 'in-role’ experience criteria. HNC (10 years), HND (5 years), BEng (3 years).

  • Extensive in-depth knowledge and application experience of recognised computer aided design software (Solidworks preferred) and manufacturing software solutions (Autodesk, Materialise etc) for additive and subtractive manufacturing.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstratable ability to analyse and resolve problems.

  • Demonstratable ability to document, plan and execute design, manufacturing and mechanical systems integration projects and developments.

  • Ability to communicate with customers, users, company employees and suppliers in an understandable clear and professional manner, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task in a small business environment
