Mechanical Technician

Jonathan Lee Recruitment is looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our client's inclusive and welcoming team. This full-time Mechanical Technician role is based in Bedfordshire and offers an attractive salary and excellent benefits.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to the facility, including installation and modification. Typical projects for the organisation include producing scaled-down military and civilian aircraft models, comprising multiple parts, which are assembled together and used to measure highly accurate forces and pressures on the model when placed within the on-site high-speed wind tunnel. You will be enabling research into the next generation of aircraft!

 In your first few weeks in this Mechanical Technician role, you can expect to:

• Carry out inspections, maintenance and repairs of the equipment involved with wind tunnel testing and the associated mechanical services (planned maintenance)
• Be responsible for the repair of plant and equipment during breakdown, including fault-finding in accordance with supervisory instructions (reactive maintenance)
• Manage plant, equipment and infrastructure, including rotating/reciprocating components (gears, chains, linkages and actuating rods).

 To apply for this Mechanical Technician role, you will need a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or significant experience installing, maintaining, repairing and inspecting industrial plant equipment and systems, such as:

• High Pressure compressed air systems
• Water cooling and treatment systems
• Plant lubrication and hydraulic systems
• Mechanical machinery and infrastructure, including rotating/reciprocating components (gears, chains, linkages and actuating rods).

You must be able to meet UK Security Clearance requirements including the last 5 years continuous residency in the UK
