Mechanical Shift Engineer

  • Salary: £38000-£46000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Shift Engineer to join a successful manufacturing business in Port Talbot. The role is focused on planning and performing maintenance duties, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and maintaining detailed reports and records. With an increasing demand for their products, the company is expanding its Electrical and Mechanical teams to meet production needs while ensuring engineers maintain an excellent work-life balance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan and conduct scheduled maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery.
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns, accurately diagnosing and rectifying faults.
  • Keep meticulous records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the Electrical team to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Adhere to strict health and safety standards and company policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Shift Engineer, ideally within a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment.
  • Familiarity with a continental shift pattern and happy to work accordingly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in fault diagnosis.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to quality.
