Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Design Engineer.

The FMC Network are partnering with a UK Wide compliance and FM business to recruit a Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Design Engineer. This will be a key member of the projects team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative mechanical and electrical solutions that will be installed by the in-house mechanical and electrical engineers.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create and develop MEP system designs for buildings. This includes heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, electrical power and lighting systems, plumbing and water supply systems, fire protection systems, and other related systems.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and calculations to determine the load requirements, equipment sizing, energy efficiency, and performance characteristics of various building services systems. This involves considering factors such as building occupancy, thermal comfort, air quality, electrical demand, water demand, and sustainability goals.
  • Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software. These drawings and documentation serve as a guide for the installation teams and subcontractors during the installation and commissioning of MEP systems.
  • Ensuring that all building services designs adhere to relevant local, national, and international codes, regulations, and standards. Staying updated with the latest codes and industry practices to ensure the designs are compliant, safe, and environmentally sustainable.
  • Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate the MEP systems seamlessly within the overall building design. Coordinating with other design disciplines to resolve any clashes or conflicts that may arise during the design phase.
  • Conducting periodic site inspections and reviews to ensure that the installation and performance of the MEP systems align with the design intent. Identifying any deviations or deficiencies and proposing corrective actions to maintain quality standards.
  • Incorporating sustainable design principles and energy-efficient technologies into building services designs. Optimizing the use of renewable energy sources, implementing energy management strategies, and recommending energy-efficient equipment and systems.
  • Manage and mentor apprentice and junior design engineers and technicians, ensuring personal development is completed and standards are maintained.
