Mechanical Design Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be working exclusively with SPI Developments to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Rotherham facility.

SPI Developments specialises in providing innovative adhesive, flavour and liquid application systems, for all sectors of the tobacco industry. Their product range includes complementary equipment, such as automatic mixing machines, adhesive sensor technology and data capture software.
Their systems and products are built using their own modular components, including pumps and control units. This enables them to evolve their equipment with market trends whilst remaining cost effective.

More than a product supplier, they can offer design and development services to assist with unique projects. Their expertise and knowledge of the tobacco industry and fluid control systems allow them to be creative yet practical in their design approach.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in Engineering and will possess experience in the design of mechanical components and assemblies. An understanding of machining tolerances and experience in Solid-works is essential and knowledge of components utilized in pump systems or similar products would be of great advantage.

The Mechanical Design Engineer's duties will include:

• Assist the current design team with existing projects.
• Transformation of conceptual designs into practical design solutions.
• Project manage new projects from infancy to installation phases.
• Develop and modify drawings to meet unique customer requirements.
• Creation of 3D models using Solidworks CAD software.
• Creation and maintenance of EBOMS.
• Ensure completion of work within agreed timescales.
• Be able to provide relevant feedback and liaise with the Project Manager both verbally and through test documentation.
• Perform practical duties and assemble components for test purposes.
• Occasional requirement to travel to overseas customer locations to carry out installations of designed and manufactured equipment.
• Fault analysis.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Ideal candidate would have previously carried out engineering duties either in an apprenticeship role, a professional role or in a recreational environment.
• Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic and willing to learn about our extensive product range
