Role:Materials Test Technician (Corrosion Testing)
Location: -Manchester

Russell-Taylor Group have a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a materials testing or physical chemistry background to join a growing corrosion testing team in the Manchester area.
This role involves electrochemical testing to assess the effectiveness of chemical additives for oil & gas applications.

Responsibilities
• Carry out materials testing programmes - testing the resistance to corrosion and how they are affected by the environment (Simulated real - world environment testing). Testing is performed at temperature and pressure.
• Prepare metallic and non-metallic test samples and preparation of test vessels.
• Strain and gauge samples
• Be involved with preparing chemical samples which will involve using micropipettes, dilution methods and figuring out solution concentrations. During this you will be handing chemicals during the test.
• Clean and prepare test vessels and takes down and cleans them post-test.
• Preparation of samples for examination post-test through cleaning and descaling.
• Examination by microscopy and photography of samples.
• Manual handling of hand and power tools and moving on gas cylinders.
• Safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous bottled gases.
• Maintain records of observations and calculations throughout.
• Set up and operate testing software

The Person
• Knowledge/interest or experience in materials, physical testing or electrochemical testing.
• Ideally a degree or HNC/equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering subject.
• Experience of handling chemicals
• Be health and safety aware.
• Passionate to learn on the job
• Excellent time management and organisation skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
