Material Planner

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk

Job Type: Full-time

£30,000 to £40,000

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Release purchase orders and ensure timely order acknowledgement from suppliers.
  • Conduct sanity checks on the MRP and provide suppliers with a weekly updated schedule.
  • Address material shortages promptly and escalate to Purchasing if necessary.
  • Maintain system parameters to ensure the MRP’s effectiveness.
  • Update the system from the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and assess volume requirements against planning assumptions.
  • Monitor the integrity of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.
  • Compare inventory levels against agreed target levels and present Tactical procurement KPIs.
  • Implement corrective action plans and ensure material management aligns with new product introduction.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with ERP systems (Oracle or SAP) in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarise and communicate results effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile data and present recommendations to management.
  • Excellent customer service and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective communication.
  • Must be able to interface effectively with other functional areas of the company and a worldwide supplier portfolio.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
