Manufacturing Director

We are seeking a Manufacturing Director to join a high-performing engineered product manufacturing business who are part of a larger group. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the impressive growth of an established and respected manufacturer of precision components, supplied to industries such as automotive, marine, and F1 teams.

Overview
  • Reporting to the Group Managing Director, you will manage the entire manufacturing operation within the Peterborough business.
  • Provide strategic thinking and strong leadership skills to an established team, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality and delivery for all manufactured systems and assemblies.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including design, production planning, scheduling, machining, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability targets are met or exceeded.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with sales, procurement, finance, marketing, and logistics teams to ensure a consistent message and seamless flow of information.
What Do I Need?
  • Strong leadership and management abilities with an approachable personality.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth experience in developing and implementing successful manufacturing strategies.
  • Solid understanding of Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and data analytics software.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a senior manufacturing management role.
  • Track record of managing complex manufacturing operations, preferably within engineered products.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and quality management systems (ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001 or similar).
  • Ability to manage and develop a high-performing manufacturing team.
  • Budgetary experience and financial acumen.
