Job Title: Temporary Management Accountant

Location: Luton

£20 Per Hour - 37.5 hrs a week for 6 - 8 weeks (with flexibility)

Our client is a global supplier of commodity and specialty chemical products to various industries. The company specializes in the sales, marketing, and distribution of chemical and raw material products to various sectors. Their reputation is built on professionalism, quality products, and reliable global distribution networks.

They are looking for a Management Accountant/Finance Assistant to support their team for a temporary basis.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will work closely with internal teams and be responsible for the following:

  • Supervising daily activities of the finance team and providing support as needed.
  • Managing daily cash flow and finance utilization updates.
  • Handling payment processing and approvals, ensuring adherence to procedures and terms.
  • Raising trade finance loans and letters of credit as required.
  • Managing all HSBC queries and liaising with the finance team as necessary.
  • Overseeing year-end audit and preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Reviewing and managing VAT and other statutory taxes.
  • Managing month-end overhead accruals and evaluating variances.
  • Maintaining stock schedules and posting accruals relating to stock.
  • Managing invoice discounting accounts and conducting monthly reconciliations.
  • Reviewing fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization.
  • Preparing and posting monthly journals.
  • Managing salary schedules for employed, contracted, and overseas staff.
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly management packs for review.
  • Providing weekly and monthly FX updates and reconciliation.
  • Assisting with the preparation of reforecast packs.
  • Conducting balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Producing and monitoring monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
  • Implementing and reviewing process improvements.

Experience we are seeking:

  • Ability to work well within a team and adapt in a demanding trading culture.
  • Experience in international trade and balance sheet management.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and technical accounting.
  • Extensive knowledge of European VAT.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Sage 50 is desirable.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement, communicate findings, and facilitate change.
  • Positive attitude towards acquiring new skills.
