Management Accountant

Your new company
You will be working for a local construction business in Portsmouth who are seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to their small team.
Your new role

• Assisting with sales/purchase ledgers and journals
• Ensure VAT payments are carried out within deadlines
• Oversee supplier statements and reconcile when required
• Uploading invoices to accounting system for payments as and when required
• Chase customer payments as and when required
• Reconciling financial accounts and direct debits
• Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements
• Ensure quarterly VAT returns are produced and submitted in relation to payments/receipts
• Ensuring the smooth running of debts and payments
• Assist with monitoring and balancing cash flow to meet obligations in line with credit control
• Identifying efficiencies and opportunities for cost reductions across the business
• To develop and document accounting policies/processes to strengthen internal controls
• Ensure timely payments of PAYE, NI and corporation tax
• Assist in preparing budget and financial forecasts and reporting any variances
• Raise and control Purchase Orders as and when necessary
• Reconciliation of credit card statements/receipts
• Process staff expenses
• Supporting Accounts Assistant with any other accounting tasks necessary during absences

What you'll need to succeed

• You must have full right-to-work in the UK, alongside prior experience working within a UK finance team.
• AAT Qualification, part-qualified ACCA, CIMA OR ACA or qualified by experience

What you'll get in return

• A competitive salary of £34,000 - £40,000 per annum
