We are currently seeking a Management Accountant to join our client's team in Liverpool. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the accounting and reporting functions for our operations, including the Call Centre and Warehouse operations, Inter-company charges, and Capital Expenditure.

Description

The successful Management Accountant will have the following Responsibilities:

  1. Month-end close support: Ensuring accurate and timely execution of key deliverables and assigned tasks, including the preparation and posting of month-end journals in accordance with established policies and procedures. Retaining appropriate documentation for SOX compliance is essential.

  2. Accounting adjustments and cross-charges: Calculating and preparing necessary accounting adjustments, cross-charges, accruals, and provisions for our operations, including overhead costs for the Call Centre and Warehouse Operations. Ensuring accuracy and completeness of calculations and providing monthly/weekly results to relevant parties such as the FP&A team and business operations teams.

  3. Business partnering: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with the wider Finance and Operational teams, providing support with queries and sharing relevant information.

  4. Cost Centre Accounting: Monitoring and ensuring accurate recording of monthly direct costs across various areas of the business. Managing accounting queries in a timely manner with internal stakeholders. Acting as an accounting partner for the UK & International FP&A, Budget Holders, and Requisitioners.

  5. Timely execution of month-end activities: Following the agreed timetable set by the Director of Corporate Finance, ensuring proper execution of all month-end activities, including adherence to controls and conducting journal reviews.

  6. Balance sheet reconciliation: Preparing and completing accurate monthly Balance Sheet and sub-ledger account reconciliations. Conducting thorough reviews with high-quality documentation to verify balances and taking appropriate actions to ensure assigned accounts are up to date. Resolving unreconciled items and escalating for review. Providing Balance Sheet reporting for analysis within Corporate Finance and for US reporting requirements.

  7. SOX controls and documentation: Executing SOX controls accurately and within agreed timelines. Documenting processes in line with agreed policies to ensure coverage and continuity within UK Corporate Finance.

  8. Audit support: Assisting in both internal and external audits by providing requested documentation in a timely manner. Collaborating with other departments and markets to obtain necessary information. Conducting walkthroughs, demonstrating controls, and responding confidently and professionally to queries.

  9. System processes and improvement: Participating in rigorous testing of new system processes as a subject matter expert. Providing valuable insights, recommendations, and highlighting potential risks. Continuously reviewing and improving various tasks and processes to ensure best practice standards, efficiency, productivity, and financial control across the accounting areas mentioned above.

  10. Prioritisation and collaboration: Effectively prioritising tasks and planning workload accordingly. Contributing to financial projects as required. Cross-training on agreed tasks to provide cover for other team members. Promoting coaching and knowledge sharing in line with our Collaborative Principles.

Profile

The successful Management Accountant will have the following:

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing ACCA/CIMA qualification
  • Demonstrated experience and accountability in month-end closing processes and reporting
  • Track record of delivering process improvements and efficiencies
  • Proficiency in SAP software
  • Familiarity with supporting external audits, managing audit requests, and conducting process walkthroughs
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel
  • Solid understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, accounting principles, and reporting controls
