Opportunity for a maintenance technician to join a leading business and improve equipment maintenance across two sites (Cardiff and Bristol).

Up to £36,000 - £40,000 in salary, plus a £ 3,500 car allowance, 5% pension, healthcare, and 25 + 8 holidays. Working days are Monday to Friday.

The hiring company is a global business established for more than four decades and is considered one of the leaders within its field.

As the maintenance technician, you will work across two sites, repairing equipment; detailed responsibilities include:-

  • Repair, adjust, and maintain equipment (i.e. shear balers, excavator scissors, machine handlers, machine scrap grabs, conveyors, material feeders, shovel loaders) to ensure that it functions reliably and complies with process specifications.
  • Respond to emergencies, break-downs, malfunctions, and other operating problems and diagnose faults to minimise disruptions.
  • Implement an established maintenance programme and maintain detailed maintenance records so that recurring problems with machinery, equipment, or parts can be identified and addressed.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to evaluate repair requests.
  • Oversee contractors and ensure work is carried out to the required standards.
  • Support with planning and scheduling maintenance activities (for example, planned maintenance programmes, shut-downs, or emergency repairs).
  • Fabrication and welding of machine components.
  • Support with the development and implementation of repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Slinging and carrying out lifting operations as required.
  • Work safely and have a proactive approach to all health & safety and environmental issues.

To apply for the maintenance technician, you will need the following: -

  • Experience working as a maintenance technician, ideally within heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, material handling equipment, and PLC-controlled automated machinery.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Welding, IPAF, and telehandler experience are desirable.
  • Willingness to travel between Cardiff and Bristol 2 to 3 days per week, twice monthly.
