About the Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Maintenance Manager will lead a maintenance team of 11 employees of cross functional disciplines. With direct line management of 5 team members (2x Maintenance Team leaders, Maintenance Engineer, Facilities Coordinator and a Stores person), providing both a reactive and proactive multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities
  • To ensure that the maintenance team meet critical KPI’s, ensuring maintenance activities are managed effectively within budget requirements, and ensuring minimal downtime within the production environment.
  • To ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out safely, including the safe control of contractors, ensuring that working practices and working environments present the minimum risk to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Effectively line manage and develop a large maintenance team, ensuring the team have sufficient skills and resources to be able to achieve their objectives and offer a first-class service to the plant.
  • Manage and lead all maintenance processes and operations, including the creation and implementation of maintenance procedures.
  • Manage capital maintenance schedule and budget.
  • Track and manage a maintenance budget of c.£2m, ensuring that all activity is within budget, continually developing and implementing cost effective solutions.
  • Preventative Maintenance System - maintain PM compliance, challenge to reduce cost through predictive maintenance, manage permits to work, confined spaces, working at height activities through direct reports.
  • Oversea the activities within the maintenance team, ensuring work is scheduled effectively and efficiently including repair and installation activities.
  • Overall responsibility for the engineering stores ensuring inventory levels are efficiently managed.
  • Manage health, safety and environment processes within the maintenance department including COSHH, Control of Contractors, Lock out/tag out, LOLER etc.
  • Manage external compliance reports and ensure fixes are in place in a timely manner.
  • Support reliability of the plant, working closely with key stakeholders to improve efficiency.
  • Champion the process of continually improving maintenance standards within the plant, leading the overall maintenance team to provide proactive and solution focused ideas.
  • Offer coaching and supervision to team members, oversea and evaluate team contribution, performance, training and development.
  • Ensuring adherence to critical framework from an engineering perspective (due diligence legal requirements, inspections, safe systems of work, etc.).
  • Providing evidence of reliability improvement of the site (PDM tools, precision maintenance) to reduce downtime and cost.
  • Achievement of department KPI’s and objectives, supporting the delivery of our brand pillars (Reliability, Partnership, Innovation, UK Focus)
About you

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained as a Maintenance Manager in a manufacturing industry setting. You will possess strong leadership and management skills and offer a visible presence, with the ability to improve personnel performance whilst driving efficiency and downtime improvements.

Key selection criteria
  • HND (or higher) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with experience of managing a maintenance team of 5+ members
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of developing and contributing to maintenance strategies which contribute to achievement of business goals
  • Experience of budget management
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with a desire to continually improve
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build a high performing maintenance team
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
  • Self-motivated and organised
  • Maintains a positive approach with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at various levels
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Commercially savvy
