Machinist Saw, Grinder & Bar Straightener

 REED Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company

Job Summary

This position will entail the running of production through the Nuclear Product line. This requires operation of

several machines including the Centreless Grinder, Twin Kasto saw, River Saw and the Reeler

straightening machine. Within this job role you will also be assisting in the despatch of the material and

inspection of the Grid Blank’s prior to dispatch and inspection of the boxes they travel in on receipt.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 Operation of Centreless Grinder.

 Operating the Twin Kasto Saw.

 Operating the Rivers Saw.

 Operating the Reeler/Straightener.

 Despatch of Nuclear Products.

 Receipt inspection of Grid Blank boxes.

 Inspection and despatching of Grid Blank’s.

 Ensure Grid Blanks are in spec as per customer requirement.

 Carry out material movements in the area i.e. using remote/pendant crane, FLT and Side loader.

 Promote and adhere to company Health and Safety policies such as STOP.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

 Involvement in improvement activities such as:

 Business Improvement activities such as workplace organisation and 5s.

 OEE data collection which contribute to shift reports.

 Problem Solving Reports.

 Method Improvement.

 Maintain High housekeeping standards in line with Departmental Audits

 Training of other Team Members.

 Machine maintenance i.e. pre-start checks and cleaning down of machines.

 Perform and maintain effective shift handover.

Demonstrable Experience of:

 Machining complex alloys.

 Development/Improvement activities.

 Application of training.

 Positive attitude to safety & quality.
