As part of the second phase of recruitment for this facility, we are looking for a Machine Operator to join our team.

Levenseat, a leading recycling and resource management company, has recently opened the doors of their newly refurbished site in Falkirk. The site will process 200,000 tonnes of household waste per year, recovering resources to extend their lifecycle and returning them back into a circular economy, ensuring nothing is wasted.

About the Role

The Machine Operator will be responsible for the baler and wrapper machine operations, including set-up and production in a waste processing environment.

This involves performing basic adjustments to the equipment as per requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment.

You will also be responsible for the basic housekeeping in the area and ensuring the machine produces high-quality bales within customer specifications, runs smoothly and at capacity, and is properly maintained.

Main Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the Machine Operator include:

  • Operate baling and wrapping equipment to compress, bind, and package materials into bales.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the baler, as well as monitoring the flow of materials and ensuring they are loaded correctly into the baler.
  • Maintain the baling equipment in good operating condition and make adjustments as needed. Work with the engineering team to help schedule preventative maintenance and schedule maintenance activity.
  • Report on production levels.
  • Monitor levels of baled stock and ensure levels do not exceed those set out in the company guidelines.
  • Responsible for basic housekeeping in the area.
  • Remain aware at all times of your responsibilities for your health and safety and the health and safety of your work colleagues.

Essential Skills

Full training will be given; however, we are looking for someone with machine operator experience who has an awareness of health and safety in the workplace, who is able to communicate well and who enjoys being part of a team.

Quality is key to this role, and the chosen candidate will have a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, be proactive in suggesting improvements, and pay attention to detail.

Ideally, the candidate will have experience in working in a process environment and in operating machinery and vehicles in a safe manner.

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement techniques
  • Experience in RDF baling and wrapping
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
