Locum Regulatory & Licensing Lawyer – Predominantly Remote Working – Up to £60 per hour Umbrella – Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are delighted to be recruiting for a Locum Regulatory & Licensing Lawyer to join a respected Local Authority based in the Midlands.

This position is offered for an initial period of 6 months with the possibility of extension thereafter. Ideally this role will be worked on a full time basis however candidates with the relevant experience that can only work on a part time basis (3-4 days) may also be considered.

Ideally the role will be worked on a predominately remote basis with the successful candidate being able to attend court hearings, Licensing Committee Meetings in person when required.

The ideal candidate will have experienced in contentious regulatory matters across the Public Sector including Private Hire, Taxi Licenses and Premises Licensing with experience gained within Local Government. The Client also requires the candidate to have experience in County Court and Magistrates’ Court proceedings.

Daily Duties may include:

• Handling a Litigation caseload from start to finish including Private Hire, Taxi Licenses and Premises Licensing

• Drafting summons, indictments, case summaries and disclosure requests

• Advising departmental offices and liaising with defence Solicitors and members of the public

• Attending Magistrates Court, committees and meetings including dealing with the Court lists

• Assisting other members of the Litigation team with casework and by prosecuting their cases at court

An hourly rate of up to £60 per hour Umbrella will be considered for this position dependent upon experience.
