Locum Criminal Litigation Solicitor – West Midlands – Predominantly Remote Working – up to £45 per hour Umbrella 

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with a reputable Local Authority in the West Midlands area who are recruiting for a Locum Criminal Litigation Solicitor to join their department.  

The role is offered for an initial period of 3 months with strong possibility of extension and will be worked on a predominantly remote basis. 

The ideal candidate will be able to attend the office or Court approximately once or twice a week.

The ideal candidate will be a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with prior experience working within Local Government carrying a full and varied caseload of Criminal Litigation matters.  

Duties may include: 

  • Acting as an advocate in Courts, Inquiries, Arbitrations and Tribunals for which the Local Authority is a party
  • Preparing reports for, and attending Committees, Sub-Committees and Executive Committee as required by the City Solicitor or Head of Law
  • Assisting the City Solicitor/Head of Law/Senior Solicitor/Team Leader regarding the conduct of legal casework
  • Assisting with the development of the department’s Quality Management System and ensuring the associated policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Actively contributing to developing the departmental, divisional and team Business plans
  • Participating in special projects or corporate working groups to represent the Legal Services Management Team at relevant groups from time to time

An hourly rate of up to £45 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience level.
