Day Webster Recruitment Agency is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Locum Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (Band 5/6) to join our AHP division. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform accurate and timely prescription assembly and checking, ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Medicines Management Guidelines
  • Assist in the dispensing process, including medication labelling, packaging, and distribution, while maintaining confidentiality and patient privacy at all times
  • Conduct final accuracy checks on dispensed prescriptions, verifying the accuracy of drug selection, dosage, labeling, and expiry dates, in accordance with the relevant regulatory requirements and best practice guidelines
  • Liaise with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related queries, discrepancies, and clinical issues, providing advice and support as required
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to maintain accurate medication records, including prescription records, controlled drug registers, and electronic prescribing systems, to facilitate effective medication management and monitoring
  • Participate in stock management activities, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceutical supplies, conducting inventory audits, and managing expired or obsolete medications in compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Provide support and guidance to junior pharmacy staff, including trainee pharmacy technicians and pre-registration trainees, assisting in their training, development, and performance evaluation

Requirements:
  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Pharmacy Technician studies from a recognized institution
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician and accreditation as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)
  • Proven experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or community pharmacy setting, with competence in prescription assembly, accuracy checking, and dispensing activities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to perform final accuracy checks on dispensed prescriptions and medication orders, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and electronic prescribing platforms, with the ability to navigate and use technology to support medication management and dispensing processes
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to professional standards and ethical principles in pharmacy practice
