Our libraries deliver essential community-based support, promoting the benefits of reading for everyone, offering a quality, trusted information service, bridging digital inclusion through supporting safe access to online resources, and curating a programme of events and activities that meet the needs of targeted audiences.

Salary: £27,334 to £29,777 per annum with entitlement to Saturday Enhancement for working 7 hours 30 minutes for 1 in 2 Saturdays.

Are you a Chartered Librarian? If you hold chartered status, you will be paid Grade 8 - £30,296 to £33,024 per annum.

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full Time (37 hours per week)

Location:Worthing Library, Richmond Rd, Worthing BN11 1HD

You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

The Opportunity

As a Librarian in the Families and Wellbeing Team, you will play a key role in co-coordinating all aspects of services to children, families, and targeted groups of adults.

You will contribute to the planning, implementation, and review of the programme of services offered to customers including regular events, outreach and partnerships, the annual Summer Reading Challenge.

This exciting opportunity will allow you to promote our fantastic library services to specific groups. You'll visit specific libraries and use a range to tools to aid your promotion, including the development and promotion of the Home Library Direct service and reminiscence collections and involvement locally in campaigns such as Dementia Awareness Week.

In this role, you will be responsible for the stock and resources through regular stockwork. You'll have the influence to identify, select and buy new titles within the allocated team budget.

Using a customer focussed approach, you will work with library teams and managers to support the delivery of local priorities and be an advocate for best practice.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for Libraries and have experience of working with children, young people, families, and a range of vulnerable groups of all ages.
