Level 3 KS1 Teaching Assistant (Supply)Role Overview:

As a Level 3 KS2 Teaching Assistant on supply you may have a range of roles, from providing essential support to pupils with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) to supporting 1:1 with a child with learning oneeds or physical disabilities to general calssroom support within Reading, Writing and Maths lessons. Your role would involve working closely with teaching and senior staff to implement agreed work programs both within and outside the classroom. You’ll play a crucial part in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for young learners across a range of schools as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting Pupils:

    • Utilize your specialist skills, training, and experience to support pupils.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Behavior Plans.
    • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
    • Promote inclusion and acceptance within the classroom.
    • Consistently support individual student needs.
  2. Classroom Assistance:

    • Collaborate with teachers to establish an appropriate learning environment.
    • Assist in lesson planning, evaluation, and adjustment of lessons/work plans.
    • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities.
    • Provide objective feedback and reports on pupil achievement and progress.
    • Maintain accurate records.
  3. Behavior Management:

    • Promote positive values, attitudes, and good pupil behavior.
    • Handle conflicts and incidents in line with established policies.
    • Encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behavior.
    • Develop a Key Worker role with specific pupils, sourcing emotional support programs where appropriate.
    • Assist in de-escalating challenging behaviors.
  4. Collaboration:

    • Liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers.
    • Participate in feedback sessions/meetings with parents as directed.
  5. Additional Duties:

    • Support the use of ICT in learning activities.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate behavior management strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Good Reading, Writing and Maths skills.
