Salary WMAT Grade WA3 Actual £15,673 - £16,887 (FTE £21,862 - £23,556)

Hours: 30 per week, 8:30am - 3.10pm, Monday to Friday, Term time only

Our clients are an 11-16 Academy of 870 students, growing to their maximum capacity of 900 in September 2023. The school is situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Haslemere.

The Role

Our client is seeking to appoint a Lesson Cover Supervisor to support the teaching staff and provide class supervision when a teacher is absent. This role plays an important role in the school cover system and is an ideal opportunity for someone who is keen to work with young people and become an integral part of the school community. It is also an ideal opportunity for someone who is potentially looking at teaching as a future career as it will enable valuable in-class experience.

Cover supervisors work with students but will not be required to do preparation, planning or marking. Other duties may include accompanying school trips and when not covering lessons some general administrative tasks may be undertaken.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for classroom supervision under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher or Head of Department
  • To communicate the work set by the class teacher to the students
  • To observe health and safety regulations.
  • To uphold the code of conduct and school ethos
  • To manage the classroom environment during cover lessons
  • To accompany staff on school visits where applicable
  • To assist with classroom displays and general administrative tasks
  • To assist the pastoral support team with general support for students, including first aid

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum GCSE C grade or equivalent in at least English and Mathematics
  • Experience using Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Enjoy working with secondary age children
  • Ability to relate in a friendly but firm way with a wide range of personalities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality inside and outside the workplace
  • Ability to be form strong and professional relationships with staff and students
