Legal Counsel

Fantastic opportunity for a lawyer to join this small but well-established and successful business on a permanent basis. Our client is looking for someone who has commercial contracts experience - ideally drafting as well as reviewing/negotiating.

This Legal Counsel role will cover a wide variety of commercial matters including supplier contracts, compliance, data protection and security issues.

The successful candidate must provide practical, commercial, solution-driven advice and would need to have a strong commercial background with broad-ranging experience.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Drafting and advising on a wide variety of contracts such as supply/purchase contracts, services agreements and non-disclosure agreements

* Data protection and security work, including advising on data protection principles (including accountability requirements), data export, information security requirements, engagement of third party processors, etc.

* Compliance work, including monitoring changes in legislation and the regulatory environment affecting the Group and taking action accordingly, ensuring all statutory obligations are met and maintained to a high standard of corporate governance, assisting the Head of Legal in overseeing the Group compliance framework, including compliance with all applicable codes, in addition to legal and statutory obligations;

* Onboarding/contracts management, including overseeing onboarding of new suppliers and developing and running a contracts management system.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment and must complement the small, dedicated, collaborative and passionate legal team, working closely with business leaders and reporting into and supporting the Head of Legal. A good team spirit and a practical and commercial approach are essential.

This is a fantastic in-house opportunity for candidates coming straight from private practice or who already have in-house experience.

The company offers a hybrid working arrangement, typically three days in the office - central London.
