Are you a meticulous individual with a knack for numbers and a passion for finance? We are currently seeking a skilled Legal Cashier to join one of our client's dynamic team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage all financial operations within their firm while ensuring strict adherence to compliance regulations and industry standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to work.

Legal Cashier experience is not a requirement however we do need someone who has previous experience working in accounts, the legal cashier side of the role can be trained.

Role: Legal Cashier

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Grantham, Nottinghamshire

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all payment and accounting inquiries.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues with accounting queries.
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping and accounts using Xero, in compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Manage office and client ledgers efficiently.
  • Oversee billing processes and ensure account balances are maintained.
  • Effectively manage debtors and creditors, including chasing overdue payments.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for directors and external auditors.
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Process transactions using various financial mechanisms such as bank transfers and cheques.
  • Report any suspected account breaches or unauthorised activities.
  • Submit VAT returns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and liaise with external parties as necessary.
  • Support junior colleagues within the department and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients.
  • Meet individual and team performance targets set by management.
  • Adhere to Solicitors Accounts Rules, Code of Conduct, and Money Laundering Regulations.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Effective time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated honesty and integrity.
  • Previous accounts experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Familiarity with LEAP and Xero software.
  • Understanding of LEXCEL and CQS standards.
  • Recognised accounts qualification.
