Legal Accountant

We are a well-established solicitors’ firm based in Sittingbourne, currently seeking a Legal Accountant to join our team for a period of maternity cover. This role is ideal for a professional with a robust background in accounts within the legal sector.

• Oversee the financial systems and ensure compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
• Manage client and office accounts, including client funds and transactions.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory financial reports.
• Liaise with auditors, providing necessary information for annual audits.
• Monitor cash flow, prepare financial statements, and manage bank reconciliations.
• Work closely with the legal team to ensure accurate billing and financial management of cases.
• Provide financial advice and support to partners and fee earners within the firm.

• Proven experience as an accountant within the legal sector.
• Strong understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and legal financial compliance.
• Proficiency in legal accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is preferred.
