Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with a Training Provider who are recruiting for a Lecturer within Mechanical Engineering on a Permanent basis.

Salary: Up to £38,064 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Middlesbrough

Hours: Full Time

Job Purpose

To plan and deliver a wide range of challenging, relevant learning and work experiences that ensure all learners can develop and apply the skills, knowledge, behaviours, and attitudes required for the 21st Century learning, life, and work.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
  3. Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  4. Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets Middlesbrough College Gold Standards.
  5. Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the Taking Teaching Higher strategy.
  6. Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
  7. Participate in Interval Verification requirements including the preparation for Awarding Body visits.
  8. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the College for all students.
  9. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by Middlesbrough College and any statutory regulators including but not limited to Awarding Bodies, Funding Bodies and / or Government Departments.
  10. Implement all College policies and procedures governing student life and conduct.
  11. Make provision for being available to students and / or to their parents for education-related purposes outside of the teaching day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  12. Maintain and improve professional relationships with colleagues.
  13. Actively participate in all professional development opportunities including relevant industrial updating.

Essentials:

  • IT skills appropriate to the needs of the post
  • Ability and the communication skills to build relationships, in particular with students from age 16 to adults and employers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the further education curriculum, including T Levels (Desirable)
  • Proven ability in administration or project work and good written communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence - ideally with own transport.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • To be a qualified Teacher or willing to work towards.
  • To be a qualified assessor or willing to work towards.
  • To hold a minimum of a Level 5 in Mechanical Engineering
  • GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Current knowledge and / or experience of teaching in one or more fields of Mechanical Engineering - Desirable
  • Current knowledge of potential issues in the sector that may impact on curriculum delivery.
  • Current knowledge and / or experience of career opportunities in the sector for 16-18 and 19+ learners.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Evidence of disseminating good practice effectively.
  • The ability to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom.
  • The ability to prepare written and visual teaching materials including the effective use of Information Learning Technology, e.g., Virtual Learning Environment, Power-Point supported by key software.
