About the Role

We are seeking a dog grooming specialist that is wanting to share their expertise to enable others to become qualified dog groomers and teach canine health and training related topics for the full-time courses.

This lecturer will be responsible for planning, delivery and assessment of Level 2 in Dog Grooming programmes within the Animal Wellbeing Centre at DVC, in addition to Canine specialist units across the L1 – L3 full time study programmes.

The successful post holder will also be involved in the development of the new HTQ’s (Higher Technical Qualifications) in the Animal Trainer and the design of the outdoor training centre within the grounds at DVC.

The role of lecturer is to equip our students with skills for their future through the delivery of outstanding education and training and inspire students to achieve their potential. This role offers you the opportunity to do this every day. It is the job satisfaction that comes from this that makes a teaching role special.

The key roles of a Lecturer are to deliver excellent teaching each year, completing the relevant preparation and marking that supports this, and to set SMART targets to enable students to reach their potential.

You will…

hold a dog grooming qualification at level 3 or above, and a teaching qualification is desirable. We are seeking an individual that is passionate about teaching and wishing to share their knowledge and expertise whilst we offer training and mentoring alongside a teaching qualification.

It's essential that you have experience of teaching/training Dog Grooming and have vocational experience in the Further Education sector. You will need to be passionate and engaging with the ability to bring the subject matter to life and make it a positive experience with a wide variety of learners.

You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to work towards.

The Animal Care Curriculum Area opened in September 2020 and offers courses from Level 1 to Level 6 in Animal Care and Animal Management. With a wide variety of animals housed in our modern facilities, now is a very exciting time to join our team!

Your line manager will be the Curriculum Director and/or Curriculum Manager.  You will regularly report on your objectives to update your Programme Leader / Curriculum Leader regarding a range of KPI’s including (but not limited to) student recruitment, retention, anticipated achievement, attendance and punctuality.
