The Role

We are looking to recruit Leaving Care Support Officers with drive and determination to provide innovative and impactful services to care leavers aged 18 to 25 in Newcastle. We currently have a vacancy within our Children in Care and Care Leavers Service and also within our Children with Disabilities Team.

The successful candidate will join experienced and committed teams who are focused on supporting young people to make a successful transition from care to independence. You will carry a manageable caseload of young people as they enter adulthood at 18 and support them to establish themselves in independence, working closely with colleagues from partner agencies such as Health and Adult Social Care. You will be willing to go the extra mile to achieve the best possible outcomes for our young people.

The Candidate

* NVQ Level 4 in Child Care/Social Care or equivalent qualification
* Evidence of recent direct work with young people in the looked after system or care leavers
* Evidence of direct and tenacious work with vulnerable young people resulting in improved outcomes
* Knowledge of relevant legislation - The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and The Children and Social Work Act 2017
