Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide essential support for students with special educational needs, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. This role involves working closely with students, either individually or in groups, to enhance their learning experience and help them overcome challenges.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Support students who require additional help with their learning and behaviour, either one-to-one or in small groups.
  • Provide support for teachers during lessons and undertake specialised tasks to support learning, such as supporting literacy and numeracy work.
  • Develop an understanding of the specific needs of students, ensuring that the advice from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) is carried out.
  • Use behaviour management strategies in line with the Academy’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare for, attend, and contribute to various review meetings as required and disseminate information to other LSAs.
  • Prepare reports for and attend annual reviews.
  • Conduct learning activities with individuals or small groups, ensuring their safety and facilitating their development.
  • Prepare materials and resources for teachers, including photocopying.
  • Participate in the duty programme at breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Attend and participate in regular meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in supporting students with special educational needs and behavioural challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of HLTAs.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to undertake training.
  • A proactive approach to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people within the Trust.
