 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark

Job Type: Full-time, Term-time

Salary: In line with support staff pay scale (dependent on experience)

We are inviting applications for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing secondary school environment. This role is integral in supporting students with special educational needs, working in partnership with the SENCo, and ensuring that each student is empowered to reach their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:

Provide individualised support to students and small groups, aligning with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Collaborate with teaching staff to modify lesson plans and resources to suit the needs of SEN students.

Monitor and document student progress, providing consistent feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.

Assist in the creation and implementation of targeted interventions, including phonics, reading, and numeracy programmes.

Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, offering guidance and encouragement.

Facilitate a safe and inclusive environment for students during breaks and lunchtimes, ensuring access to activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience working with young people with SEN, ideally within a secondary school context.

Knowledge of various SEN, such as ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD, and SEMH.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships.

Independent and team-oriented work ethic with a flexible and proactive approach.

Dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Relevant qualifications, like a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, are desirable.
